Lao Lao

Having consumed large quantities of turkey, ham, salad, ribs, etc. and an assorted decadently delicious desserts on Thanksgiving, we are feeling none too ambitious to tackle a difficult hike on Sunday.  The Lao Lao road to the golf course seems like a good choice, allowing us an easy stroll on the beach and on a well shaded dirt road.
At 6:15 a.m. six of us meet on Lao Lao Beach in time to see the sun rising over the horizon: Chops, Thor, CB, Ewok, Spicegirl, and CC, and of course dog Boy.

A fisherman getting ready to cast his net near the reef. The water is quite calm, posing no danger to the fisherman.

Two new signs on the beach reminding visitors to protect the environment.

Chops and Boy cooling their feet while the sky beyond slowly brightens.

Five minutes later, the sun bursts through the clouds. Another fisherman casting his nets hoping for a good day's catch.

Thor and Ewok coming close to a section of the beach that has been deeply gouged by recent runoffs.

Approaching the end of walkable beach, Chops checks out the cave that will lead us back to the road.

Interesting coral rock formation.

Chops, CB, Ewok, Spicegirl, and Thor cross under the rock cave and head toward the road. Note the big tree growing out of the rocks.

An interesting looking cave on the side of the road. Ewok shines his flashlight to see steps leading down to a deep dark unknown and he decides to be cautious and not go down.

A convenient beach stop by this parking lot. Not that we have done any strenuous hiking, but the big logs are too comfortable looking to pass up.

After an exciting encounter with two aggressive dogs ready to take on Boy, we manage to chase them back behind the gate, we find this welcoming rest stop complete with picnic tables and a fabulous view. Thor, Ewok, and Spicegirl getting ready to spread out snacks on the tablecloth.

Having satisfied our hunger, we are ready for the group photo at the picnic table: CC, Spicegirl, Chops, CB, Ewok, and Thor.

Continuing our walk down Lao Lao Road, we reach the end of the trail. Just before the fence at the golf course, a side trail takes us to the diving site where the sharp rocks are covered with lengths of carpet, and a strong strapping rope with a ladder leads down to the water.

Further up the trail from the ladder is a diving platform. Ewok, CB, and Boy contemplating the possibility of jumping into the beautiful blue water for a cool swim.

While Spicegirl and CB remain on the diving platform, Ewok decides to try the ladder down to the water. But despite our encouragement for him to dip his toes in the water, the strong surge of white foamy splashes chase Ewok back up to the rocks.

Message to RedEye: Here is an item CB finds on the rocky shore, have you been secretly visiting this area and lost your sole again?

We return to our cars by the same way. We agree that it has been a very enjoyable walk. Easy and relaxing.
