LauLau Beach

Our leisurely hike last week encourages us to take another easy beach hike on Sunday. Since the unpaved portion of the LauLau Beach Road could be somewhat rough, we decide to park our cars at the base of the old Chamorro Village entrance, and walk down from there. At 6:30 a.m. nine hardy souls gather at the slightly muddy driveway: Thor, Sparky, RedEye, Cutie, Chops, CB, Marsha, Ewok, and CC, ready for a nice and easy hike.

CB, Chops, and Thor, followed by the others, saunter down the paved road.

As we near the beach, we are surprised to see the negative tide, with a lone fisherman at the edge of the reef.

The group is definitely taking it easy. After several stops on the way, we find this palapala on the beach, and everyone just stops and rests.

Eventually, we start the beach walk.

Chops, Thor, and Sparky taking a break to chat.

As we near the end of the beach, it's time to get back on the road. This is the passage way back to the road, so we decide to check out whether it is still passable.

Another stop while CB and CC try to find a way back to the road. Ewok finds a place to sit, while Marsha, Chops, Sparky, Thor, Cutie, and RedEye wait. The trail back to the road is now blocked by fallen branches and other debris. So we backtrack on the beach.

What else is there to do but take a water-break. Everyone takes a sip of drink.

Nice welcome to the beach. Notice the spelling of the bay as Lao Lao Bay, versus the spelling on the map as LauLau Bay. Guess either way is acceptable. Here is where we could return to the road.

On the way backtracking to the road, we decide to check out the tide pools and the exposed land for interesting finds. Marsha, CB, Chops, Thor, and Sparky looking hard.

CB, Marsha, Chops, and Thor focusing on something in this tide pool.

This is what they are looking at, a beautiful black and white striped snake or eel? CB is certain it is an eel. After this fine discovery, we return to the road and go further down to our favorite spot for snacks.

A very hungry bunch of hikers (walkers) devour the snacks laid out on the table: tangerines, seaweed, peanut brittles, chocolate, crackers, apple slices, pretzel, etc. yummy stuff. It's a happy bunch: Chops, Cutie, Marsha, Ewok (left), CB, RedEye, Thor, Sparky (right), CC taking the photo.

Funny looking fruit growing on this tree.

RedEye is intrigued by the fruit!

Still low tide.
It was a very pleasant and easy 2.5 hour-many-stops hike.
